We cover 18 casino floors in Pennsylvania, from a racetrack outside Erie to the biggest room in the state at Bensalem. The detail most visitors miss is how the newest ones were built. Of the six floors that opened since November 2020, three sit at shopping malls: Live! Casino Pittsburgh in the Westmoreland Mall parking lot at Greensburg, Hollywood Casino York inside the York Galleria, and Happy Valley Casino in a former Macy's at the Nittany Mall. All three are satellite floors under a smaller licence class, so they are compact by design, and the mall setting means plenty of parking and somewhere for non-players to go. You must be 21 to gamble at every one of the 18.
Philadelphia: five floors within half an hour
Two casinos sit inside the city and three ring it. Parx at Bensalem is the largest floor in the state, with more than 3,320 slots, 188 live tables and a 48-table poker room. Live! in the South Philadelphia stadium district holds the best Google rating of any Pennsylvania casino at 4.2. Rivers on the Delaware waterfront deals Sic Bo and Asia Poker, Harrah's at Chester still runs harness racing, and Valley Forge at King of Prussia is a 486-room hotel with a table-heavy floor of 850 slots and 50 tables. Our guide to casinos in Philadelphia compares all five.
Pittsburgh and the south-west: four very different rooms
Only Rivers Casino Pittsburgh is inside the city limits, on the North Shore, with a 30-table poker room and $5 live blackjack in its Rush Table Zone. The Meadows at Washington pairs about 2,500 slots with harness racing and bowling lanes. Live! Pittsburgh is actually in Greensburg, and the Casino at Nemacolin is a resort amenity in the Laurel Highlands. The full comparison is in our guide to casinos in Pittsburgh.
The Poconos and the north-east: three floors
Mount Airy is the only casino inside the Poconos, an adults-only resort where the whole property is 21 and over. Mohegan Pennsylvania at Wilkes-Barre runs a non-smoking poker room and harness racing from February to November. Wind Creek at Bethlehem, on the old steelworks site, has 150 live tables, second only to Parx. See our guide to casinos in the Poconos.
Central Pennsylvania: one racetrack and four satellites
Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course at Grantville, seventeen miles east of Harrisburg, is the anchor: more than 2,400 machines, upwards of 40 live tables and an 11-table poker room, the only real card room between the two big cities. The track opened in 1972.
Around it are four satellite floors. Hollywood Casino York has 24 live tables inside its mall. Hollywood Casino Morgantown off the Turnpike runs a 30-table live pit with carnival games most floors skip. Parx Casino Shippensburg has 48 table games, but every one is an electronic terminal, so there is no live dealer. Happy Valley Casino opened on 27 April 2026 as Centre County's first casino, with 600 slots and 30 tables.
Erie: the one floor on its own
Presque Isle Downs & Casino in Summit Township is the only casino in the far north-west, and none of our regional guides covers it. Churchill Downs Inc. owns it. It has more than 1,500 machines, a table pit with a High Limit Room running $5 to $100, and live thoroughbred racing on a one-mile track from May through September. There is no hotel on site.
Which floors close overnight
Fifteen of the 18 are open around the clock. The exceptions are Parx Shippensburg (10am to midnight Sunday to Thursday, 2am on Friday and Saturday), Nemacolin (9am to 2am daily) and Happy Valley, which had not published settled hours when we last checked. Sportsbooks often keep shorter hours than the floors around them, notably at Parx and Wind Creek.
